Spam Scanning Options
- Opt Out of Spam Scanning (00_Opt_Out)
- All messages are scanned for virus content.
- Enterprise Rules are enforced (addresses, domains, and attachments blocked at the NIU mail gateway).
- Messages are not given a spam score.
- Personal block lists will not be enforced (addresses and domains blocked by the individual).
- Tag & Deliver Suspected Spam (01_Tag_Only) - This option allows all e-mail that has a spam score less than 20 to be delivered.
- All messages are scanned for virus content.
- Enterprise Rules are enforced (addresses, domains, and attachments blocked at the NIU mail gateway).
- Any messages that score between 5 and 20 are "tagged" as spam in the subject line.
- An example of a "tagged" subject line is: Subject: [Spam:******SpamScore] Great Deal
- Messages with a spam score higher than 20 are rejected.
- Personal block lists are enforced (addresses and domains blocked by the individual).
- Personal permit lists are enforced (addresses and domains that are always delivered).
- Personal custom rules are enforced.
- Do Not Deliver Suspected Spam (03_Aggressive) - This option blocks the delivery of all suspected spam that has a spam score higher than 5.
- All messages are scanned for virus content.
- Enterprise rules are enforced (addresses, domains, and attachments blocked at the NIU mail gateway).
- Messages with a spam score higher than 5 are rejected.
- Personal block lists are enforced (addresses and domains blocked by the individual).
- Personal permit lists are enforced (addresses and domains that are always delivered).
- Personal custom rules are enforced.
- Advanced Controls with Spam Trap - This setting allows you to "trap" suspected spam messages outside of the NIU network and your mailbox. You can then decide on an action for trapped messages on a case-by-case basis.

- Messages with a spam score higher than 5 are "trapped" in the advanced interface's Spam Trap.
