E-Mail Block List

NIU blocks messages from being delivered from individual e-mail addresses, domains or IP addresses that appear on the NIU blocklist. See Currently being blocked for a complete list.

The enterprise spam software allows customers to create a personal blocklist. Follow the steps below to see how the local blocks can be accomplished. Messages are never delivered from individual e-mail addresses, domains or IP addresses that appear on this list that you create.

First log in to CanIt Pro.

  1. Go to http://www.canspam.niu.edu
  2. Log in with your AccountID and password
  3. If you do not see the image below, click "Simplified Interface.”

  4. Click the "Permit list, block lists, etc." button
  5. Click "Rules"
  6. To blocklist one sender, click on "Senders"
  7. Enter aspecific Sender's e-mail address and click "Add Rule" and then scroll down.
  8. Under "Action" click on the drop down arrow and select "Always Reject."
  9. Click "Submit Changes" and then scroll down.
  10. At any point, users may click on “Senders,” scroll down and see a list of all senders they have taken action on, whether they have been permitted or blocked.
  11. If you would like to filter this list and see only those users that have been blocked, click on the link for “Always Reject.”
