All enrolled students have an e-mail account and an e-mail alias assigned. 

• Your official e-mail address is: Z-ID@students.niu.edu
• Your alias is: first initial last name@niu.edu
  • You can look up and change your alias in the Online Directory

Get your NIU e-mail at webmail.students.niu.edu. Log in with your Z-ID: z######

• Look up your Z-ID
• Your e-mail password

Check your NIU e-mail regularly

Official university correspondence such as class schedules, Student Financial Aid notifications, and statements from the Bursar are sent to NIU student e-mail accounts.

University systems such as Blackboard and announcements send their messages to your student e-mail account also.

Make sure there is enough free space to receive mail.
