General Lab Information
Information Technology Services has twelve computer labs (a total of nineteen individual rooms) on the DeKalb campus. Lab Locations and Hours.
Most labs run Windows XP and general productivity software such as word processing and spreadsheets. Students can use the labs to read and send e-mail and browse the web. Each lab has at least two black and white laser printers and at least one color scanner.

You need your Z-ID and password
Know your Z-ID and password. You may be required to show your OneCard and you are required to adhere to the NIU Acceptable Use Policy.
Lab rules
No cellular phones, food or beverages are permitted in the labs.
ITS Academic Computing Operations and Support staff reserve the right to ask users to leave the lab for non-compliance with the posted lab policies and/or any behavior disruptive to the lab environment. Non-compliant users may also be subject to disciplinary action by the NIU Judicial Office.
For students with disabilities
Most ITS labs are wheelchair-accessible and most have workstations that accommodate students who are blind or visually impaired. See Adaptive Technology in ITS Computing Labs.
Lab attendants
With the exception of FO 393 (FLL), all labs have student attendants on duty at all times. The attendants help students access applications and data. They DO NOT help with homework.
The ITS computer labs employ approximately 75 students to work as lab attendants and supervisors. These jobs provide not only some cash, but a valuable entry on a resume. Apply at Lab Employment.
