• NIU OpenNet is a wireless service provided to the public and NIU User community as a free service
• NIU OpenNet is offered on an "as is" basis with no guarantee and no warranty
• Utilization of NIU OpenNet must be consistent with regulatory and legal requirements
• To ensure appropriate quality of service, for maintenance purposes NIU may monitor certain aspects of network traffic
• Information carried on the NIU OpenNet service is not secured or encrypted and could be monitored, captured, or altered by others for ill-intended purposes
• It is the user's sole responsibility to protect his/her information from all risks associated with Internet usage, including any damage, loss, or theft that may occur as a result of use of NIU OpenNet
• In using this free Internet access, the user agrees and hereby releases, indemnifies, and holds harmless, Northern Illinois University and its employees from any damage that may result in the use of this wireless access
• Based on presentation of a valid court order, or other legal requirement, NIU may be required to provide log information regarding NIU OpenNet access which could result in disclosure of information regarding a user's wireless device and usage
• NIU faculty, staff, students, and affiliates must use authenticated wireless services while accessing enterprise systems on campus
