GroupWise Product Requirements

IF YOU ARE OFF-CAMPUS, you must first connect to the NIU Network via VPN, PPTP, etc. before any files can be downloaded. Follow the steps required to connect to the NIU Libraries.

Client Downloads

• Windows / PC Client (Setup IP File)
• Macintosh Clients:
  • PowerPC Client
  • Intel Client
• Linux Client (only available as RPM package)

GroupWise on CD

Installation via CD is required to install GroupWise on a Windows Vista x64 computer. Windows Vista x64 will not allow the Windows / PC Client program (above) to install GroupWise. Also, some individual workstation issues may prevent the client download from processing properly. If GroupWise cannot be installed via the client, attempt to install it via CD.

You can create your own installation CD by downloading the CD ISO Image and burning it to a CD. The image contains all the clients for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux.

In addition to downloading the image and creating a CD, a CD can also be ordered from ITS.

Note: When installing the client, specify gw.niu.edu, port 1677 as your host. Do not use wpo.cso.niu.edu.

GroupWise Instant Messenger (GWIM)

The instant messenger client is available for users with GroupWise accounts. The GWIM client is independent of the GroupWise client.
