Some possible scenarios:

  • The site is hosted in WebCRMA and you need access.
  • The site currently exists and you would like to migrate it to WebCRMA.
  • The site currently exists on paper and you would like to get it created and hosted.
  • The site currently exists and you would like to re-organize it and migrate hosting to WebCRMA.

1. Access to WebCRMA

Go to the Computer Access Request  form.  In the WebCRMA Access section, check 'WebCRMA Department Access' and 'User' and/or 'Reviewer.'  Upon submission the form will ask for the e-mail of the department chair or manager.  When you enter that e-mail and complete the submission, the form will be mailed to the department chair or manager.  That person must then REPLY to the e-mail.  The REPLY is accepted as the electronic signature that verifies the form.  The REPLY sends your application to Computer Access.

2.  Migrate the site to WebCRMA

To migrate the site you will need:

  • Access (described above).
  • A department directory.  Fill in the appropriate details on Computer Access Request form to get that set up.
  • Copy the site to the new department directory.  Use WebDAV or Upload in WebCRMA.  Consult  WebCRMA Help for information about WebDAV and Upload.
  • Make your home page index.html or index.shtml.
  • Redirect html code should be created to forward anybody who bookmarked your old site to the new site.

3.  Create a new site and host it in WebCRMA

The NIU Web Team can help get your site created in the NIU templates.

4.  Re-organize the site and utilize the NIU Web Presence templates

The URL:

The default URL is tied to the folder name and default page.  For example, if the department is "Information Technology Services" and the folder is "ITS", then the default URL is www.niu.edu/its when there is a file named index.html or index.shtml located in the /its folder.  This is because the default web service is defined to use a default page of index.html or index.shtml.

If a custom URL is required, refer to the Domain Name Request Form
